OTTAWA — Franklin County deputies caught up with a 2005 Chevy Equinox that five different motorists reported as driving recklessly on I-35 Sunday afternoon. They found the SUV stopped in the grass near the boundary fence in the 3300 block of southbound I-35 northeast of Ottawa. The sheriff’s office said they talked to the driver, who they identified as Royce Wiley, 30, Ottawa. The sheriff’s department said that as deputies tried to examine him for a possible DUI, Wiley became combative and tried to flee. After he was arrested, Wiley broke a window out of a patrol car, the department said. Wiley was booked into the Franklin County jail on suspicion of driving under the influence, child endangerment, obstruction of the legal process, and criminal damage to property.
