OTTAWA — Ransom Memorial Hospital has bought the building that houses the Lawrence Cancer Center of Ottawa at 1402 S. Main St. The hospital’s chief financial officer Dean Ohmart says the hospital bought the building from Dr Darren Klish, who owns and operates the cancer center. The hospital will lease the building to Klish and is negotiating to continue the lease of the Lawrence Otolaryngology Associates, which also has its Ottawa clinic in the building, Ohmart said. The lease will ensure that Ottawa patients can still receive cancer treatments in Ottawa, he said. The hospital’s long-term plan calls for addition clinic space, but clinic space is at a premium, he said. The hospital bought the building, which was specifically built to accommodate cancer radiation treatments, for about half of the price of what it would cost to build a similar building, Ohmart said.
