GARDNER – A 33-year-old Gardner woman who gave birth after being severely injured in a traffic accident with a semi-truck on I-35 near Gardner earlier this month has been released from Overland Park Regional Medical Center. The Kansas City Star reported that Nikki McClure will enter a rehabilitation facility in another state. Her baby daughter was born after doctors performed surgery on McClure shortly after the accident. McClure rear-ended a semi-truck-trailer on I-35 just north of the weigh station near 175th Street. The driver of the truck didn’t know the accident occurred and drove into Iowa with the hood of McClure’s car impaled in the trailer. No charges were filed. A hospital statement said the family expresses their gratitude to the community for their support and prayers.
