TOPEKA – The last of three groups of soldiers from the Kansas National Guard’s 1st Battalion of the 161st Field Artillery and the 35th Military Police Company will return to Kansas Saturday after a year-long deployment to Djibouti in the Horn of Africa. A ceremony will be noon at Forbes Field in Topeka. The Guard spent the last year conducting stability operations in Africa. The artillery battalion is headquartered in Wichita but has a detachment in Paola.
