OTTAWA – After a couple of years in which tourism slid, Franklin County saw more tourists visiting last year. During her annual report to county commissioners on tourism, county tourism director Kristie Lee said tourism in Franklin County has rebounded and that there are many types of tourists. That includes snow birds just stopping briefly, recreation tourists and those visiting because of the county’s rich history, she said. And Lee adds a new category – legal tourists. Lee says they rented the conference room at the visitors center to a firm from Baton Rouge, La., to conduct a deposition. The Louisiana firm contacted Lee after seeing the county tourism Web site, she said.
