LAWRENCE – Kansas University’s Hall Center for the Humanities will host the 10th annual celebration of books published by humanities, social sciences and arts professors last year. The event will be 4 to 6 on March 8 in the Hall Center Conference Hall. It is free and open to the public, but an RSVP is required by Thursday. The celebration will recognize the 33 faculty members who published 37 books last year, ranging from scribes in the Salem witch trials, to counterterrorism policies in Central Asia to Mexican-American families across the generations. Three authors will make brief presentations about their books. Tanya Golash-Boza will discuss her book “Immigration Nation: Raids, Detentions and Deportations in Post-9/11 America.” John Tibbetts will discuss “The Gothic Imagination: Conversations in Fantasy, Horror and Science Fiction in the Media.” Thomas Tuozzo will discuss “Plato’s Charmides: Positive Elenchus in a ‘Socratic’ Dialogue.” To RSVP, call the Hall Center at (785) 864-4798 or e-mail [email protected].
