PLEASANTON — The Kansas Department of Health and Environment has issued a boil order for the city of Ppleasanton in Linn County. The city is expecting the water system to lose pressure tonight during scheduled water main maintenance. The KDHE said when such a loss of pressure occurs, it is possible for contaminants to enter the system and for chlorine levels drop to drop dangerously low and allow bacterial contamination.
Once service is restored, customers should boil water for one minute before drinking it or using it for food preparation, and disinfect dishes and other food surfaces by immersing them for at least one minute in clean tap water containing one teaspoon of unscented household bleach per gallon of water.
