WILLIAMSBURG – A fire driven by high winds destroyed a farm house in the 600 block of Delaware Road southeast of Williamsburg early Friday. Williamsburg Fire Chief Ralph Ferguson said the high winds fanned the flames of the older two-story farmhouse. The house was occupied at the time of the fire but they escaped unscathed, he said. However, firefighters couldn’t save the house and it was destroyed, he said. More than 25 firefighters from four rural departments helped fight the fire. Ferguson said. The cause of the fire was still under investigation, he said. However, it’s not likely a wood stove in the house was the cause, he said.
