OTTAWA — The grand opening for Ransom Memorial Hospital’s $9.3 million renovation and expansion project begins tonight at 5:15 and Sunday at 1 p.m. in the conference rooms. Tonight, visitors will hear short speeches from the hospital trustees chairman, the head of the Kansas Hospital Association and Tom Weigand, Ottawa Area Chamber of Commerce president, said hospital CEO Larry Felix. Tonight, there will some examples of hospital food, which Felix said is very good, and tours of the improvements. Sunday’s grand opening will include desserts and more tours, he said.
The project included a new OB-GYN wing, a new surgery suite, a new intensive care unit and a complete renovation of patient rooms. T\he project reflects an improvement and a change in thinking when it comes to birthing, intensive care and in patient rooms, he said. The improvements are designed to make the hospital more family-friendly, while improving the quality of the medical care, he said.
