PAOLA — About hundred people staged a protest march against the Miami County Commission Saturday morning in downtown Paola. The marchers protested the commission’s 3-2 vote to eliminate contraception from a county health department grant request to the state. The Miami County Republic reported that there were several angry speeches. Mike Young of Osawatomie told the group that it was sad after 210 years, people still have to debate women’s rights. He also said that a local group plans to file suit against Miami County.
