WAVERLY — A 19-year-old Shawnee man was taken to Ransom Memorial Hospital, Ottawa, Sunday morning when the car he was riding in went off I-35 and hit a rock wall in Osage County northeast of Waverly. The Kansas Highway Patrol said Jair Martinez-Maldonado, 19, Kansas City, Kan., was driving south on I-35 when his car struck a large piece of road debris. He lost control and the car hit the rock wall. Victor Franco-Unzueta,19, was one of five people in the car and was the only one who was injured.
