OTTAWA — The Ottawa Municipal Airport is scheduled to close next Monday morning at 7. City public works director Andy Haney said the airport will be closed for about four months as the main runway is rebuilt. The timetable for the project is ambitious and Haney said he hopes weather conditions won’t cause an extension of the construction schedule. The city received a 95 percent grant from the Federal Aviation Administration to rebuild the runway. The project will cost a little more than $2.2 million. The project includes a wastewater conduit that will be built under the new runway to accommodate future development in the vicinity of the terminal area, he said. Because the wastewater improvement isn’t eligible for the federal funding, the city will pay about $24,000 for that, he said.
