OTTAWA — Tom Weigand resigned today as president of the Ottawa Area Chamber of Commerce and as secretary/treasurer of Ottawa/Franklin County Economic Development, Inc. His resignation will be effective April 27. Weigand said he has accepted the position of president for the Junction City Chamber of Commerce. He will there begin May 1. Weigand had served as Ottawa chamber president for almost 10 years. “It has been a great run and I’ve been fortunate to work with some great people and see some great things happen for our area,” Weigand said. “He has been a first class advocate for the city and county, and his constant smile and friendly demeanor will be sorely missed,” said Mike Skidmore, Ottawa chamber chairman. “Tom is an amazing ambassador for the Franklin County area,” said Blaine Finch, O/FCED president. “Tom is an amazing ambassador for the Franklin County area. Tom will be missed.” The Junction City chamber recently underwent a merger that will see their chamber, economic development group and convention and visitors bureau all under one roof. That is a model that Weigand said he’s excited about working with.
