KANSAS CITY – Interim school superintendent Stephen Green has been elevated as the superintendent of the troubled Kansas \City public school system. He had been interim since September. The school board offered him a four-year contract with an annual $250,000 salary. Green’s most pressing problem is dealing with the schools’ loss of accreditation because of a high dropout rate and low standardized test scores by students. The state of Missouri is poised to take over the district but Green has been trying to prevent that.
