TOPEKA – As of this afternoon, the state still couldn’t issue driver’s licenses and Kansas identification cards for the second straight day. The state’s computer system that handles licenses and IDs crashed Tuesday because of a problem with a vendor’s server. Like Tuesday, state officials said they were trying to bring the system up t his afternoon. Director of vehicles Donna Shelite said that although driver’s license stations can’t issue licenses or ID cards, they will grant 15-day extensions to people whose licenses or ID cards have expired or are set to expire by Saturday.
