OSAWATOMIE — The Democratic Party presidential caucuses will be Saturday afternoon. Democrats in the 12th Senatorial District will meet Saturday afternoon at 1 at Osawatomie High School. The caucus is open to registered Democrats or anyone wishing to register as a Democrat. The district covers Miami and Linn counties, most of Franklin County and part of Anderson County. Because Pres. Barack Obama has no serious challenger there will be little drama for caucuses. However, Miami County Cemocratic chairman Doug Walker told the Osawatomie Journal that there could be more interest even though the lack of a presidential contest because of voters’ irritation with Gov. Sam Brownback and the Kansas Legislature, which despite being dominated by Republicans has been frequently deadlocked.
