OTTAWA — Franklin County commissioners accepted the recommendation of the county planning commission to reject a request by Moundview Company LLC, Lawrence; to rezone a shop near K-273 and John Brown Road near Williamsburg Wednesday. County planning director Larry Walrod says the company’s wish to rezone its shop and recycling facility from a commercial C-2 to a light industrial I-1 drew opposition from neighbors. Commissioner Ed Taylor agreed with the neighbors, saying the lot wasn’t big enough for sanitation and waste disposal and wasn’t appropriate for an I-1 zoning. Walrod said he’s trying to develop a special use permit in the existing commercial zoning.
