OLATHE — A former Shawnee Mission West High School teacher has pleaded guilty to three counts of unlawful sexual relations with teenaged students during the fall of 2010.
Prosecutors say 28-year-old Michelle Preston used Facebook to lure three boys to her house. She could face up to 17 years in prison but both sides are asking for probation for Preston. She was fired by the school district last May after she was placed on administrative leave in March 2011 when the investigation surfaced. Preston was involved in a serious injury one-car crash in Miami County when her car went over a cliff and dropped into a water way shortly after the criminal investigation began last year. The investigation began after nude cell phone photos of her surfaced among students at the school. Sentencing is June 1.
