DODGE CITY — May is motorcycle month in Dodge City. Although Dodge City is legendary as a wild west cattle town, it was also famous as a national center of motorcycle racing in the early 20th century. Before World War I, Dodge City was home of the Dodge City 300, considered the top race in the country. The city hosted a series of motorcycle races after that as well. The Dodge City Carnegie Center for the Arts will host an exhibit and a series of programs about the races next month. Items on display will include a several vintage motorcycles, including a 1929 Harley.
