LAKIN — A pilot is in critical condition at Wichita’s Via Christi-St. Francis Hospital after the crop-duster he was flying crashed in southwestern Kansas. An airplane flown by David Burr, 58, Montrose, Colo., clipped a support line to a 305-feet cell phone tower near U.S. 50 east of Lakin, the Kansas Highway Patrol said. His airplane cartwheeled to the ground, crashing nose-first, and flipping one full time, the highway patrol said.
He was taken to Kearny County Hospital of Lakin, and later flown to Wichita. The crop-duster was registered to Tri-Rotor Spray and Chemical, in Ulysses.
