OSAGE CITY — The state will close U.S. 56 between the K-31 junction at Osage City and the K-99 junction near Admire Thursday and Friday between 9 and 3. The Kansas Department of Transportation said the highway is being closed so crews can remove a truck trailer from the ditch. The catch: the turned-over trailer is carrying a wind turbine tower and both the trailer and tower weigh 120 tons. There will be no marked detour, although motorists can use K-31 through Burlingame Harveyville. KDOT said the trailer and tower should be righted and removed Friday, weather permitting.
