GARNETT — A Chanute woman who once faced murder charges related to a drunk-driving fatality crash near Colony two years ago will spend one year in the Anderson County jail. Connie McCormick, 46, was the driver when her SUV went off U.S. 169 and went end over end in the ditch. Her 13-year-old niece Mary Jane Robertson was thrown out the back hatch. The Anderson County Review reported McCormick agreed to a plea deal in which she pleaded guilty to vehicular homicide. District Judge Eric Godderz could have given her probation but gave her the maximum sentence.
