OTTAWA — If you’re a Franklin County Democrat and you want to take part in the presidential caucuses this Saturday, you’re going on the road. However, Franklin County Democratic chair Caleb Correll said that despite the lack of drama and the extra mileage, the caucuses will be worth the trip, allowing local Democrats to meet other Democrats and some candidates. Most Franklin County Democrats are in Republican Pat Apple’s Senate District 12 and will caucus at Osawatomie High School.
Democrats in Williamsburg and Homewood townships are in Republican Jeff King’s Senate District 15 and will caucus at the Iola National Guard armory. The Kansas Democratic Party’s caucuses are open to all Kansans, but participants must register as Democrats before they may participate. Registration begins at 1; caucuses begin at 2.
