WILLIAMSBURG — The two most critically injured patients from the deadly April 1 crash on I-35 near Williamsburg have been moved to Minnesota. Adam Kerber, 17, and his mother, 48-year-old Pauline Kerber, 48, both of Jordan, Minn., are improving and arrangements were made to transferred home for further medical treatment, Kansas Highway Patrol Trooper Don Hughes said. The younger Kerber was driving the converted Freightliner box truck when it and the trailer it was pulling went over a bridge railing and plunged into a creek in Osage County. Five people were killed and 13 injured. Hughes said most of those have been released but some will require further medical treatment in Minnesota. The patrol continues to investigate various aspects of the crash and will need to interview more witnesses, including the driver, Hughes said. There is no immediate evidence why the accident occurred, he said. Troopers will still have to download the truck’s black box, he said.
