GARNETT — The Garnett Public Library will host a book discussion Wednesday night at 7 on the book by the former Arizona congresswoman who was wounded by a gunman. Jane Feuerborn will lead the discussion on the book “Gabby: A Story of Courage and Hope” by Gabrielle Giffords and Mark Kelly, her astronaut husband. On Jan. 8, 2011, while meeting with her constituents in Tucson, Giffords was the victim of an assassination attempt that left six people dead and 13 wounded. She was shot in the head; and doctors called her survival “miraculous.” The books details the overwhelming challenges of brain injury and the recovery. Copies of the book are available at the library, but those attending need not have read the book.
