MINNEAPOLIS — A Kansas City man convicted of a home invasion in Anderson Ccounty is one of four men who escaped from the Ottawa County jail in Minneapolis, in north-central Kansas, early this morning. One man was recaptured but 22-year-old Eric James, 22, remains at large. James was serving 66 months in state prison after he was convicted in September 2008 for kidnapping and three counts of armed robbery in connection with a February 2008 home invasion in which the victims were bound with electrical cords while their property was stolen, Anderson County Attorney Fred Campbell said. James had been at Ellsworth Correctional Facility. Local and state law officers are searching for James, Santos Carrera-Morales, 22, Wichita; and Drew Wade, 21, Topeka, the Kansas Department of Corrections said. Carrera is a convicted murderer and Wade was convicted of aggravated robbery and battery in Shawnee County. A corrections department spokeman said the department had been housing prisoners at Minneapolis since January. The escapees may be in a gold Nissan Altima, a brown Nissan Altima or a silver Chevy Impala, at least one of which is stolen. The escapees should considered armed and dangerous, the corrections department said. There were few immediate details on how they escaped.
