OTTAWA — The city will host a ribbon-cutting in City Park this morning at 9 for the reconstructed bridge over Skunk Run. When city staff looked accessibility issues last year, they decided the earlier the bridge had unacceptable gaps at the ends of the bridge, city public works director Andy Haney said. At the same time, inspectors found significant structural problems. City public works employees said they could rebuild the bridge, he said. Highland Cemetery employee Scott Davis was a certified welder and served as the lead for the project. The bridge was powder-coated by Ernest Spencer Custom Coatings, which is in the Ottawa Industrial Park, he said. City utility crews removed the bridge and replaced it after it was rebuilt.
