PAOLA — A motorcyclist was seriously injured when she hit a deer late Saturday night on U.S. 69 north of Paola. Teresa Karaff-Rogers, 43, Independence, Mo., was riding was north on U.S. 69 just north of K-68 when a deer ran out of the median onto the road, the Kansas Highway Patrol said. Her motorcycle hit the deer and she lost control and her bike overturned. Karaff-Rogers was thrown off the motorcycle and she landed in the right ditch. She was taken to Overland Park Regional Hospital. Troopers said she was wearing a helmet.
