OTTAWA – Marguerite Gibson has given $1 million to Ottawa University. OU president Kevin Eichner said her donation will go to a building project that will build a new student center and convert the present student union into a new library. The new student center will be named after Gibson. Eichner said Gibson’s is one of the biggest gifts in OU’s history, being the third that reached $1 million. But Eichner said it won’t the only one. Eichner said he expects three more $1 million donations this summer as part of OU’s $24 million Vision 20-20 fundraising campaign. Eichner said the donations come at a time of rapid growth at OU. The student enrollment has doubled at the Ottawa campus over the last five years, he said. Gibson and her late husband Raymond owned several Ottawa businesses over the years and they had a commitment to the community, Eichner said. “We’re delighted and honored she chose to share some of her wealth with us,” he said. “It will be a benefit to our students and to the community.”
