WELLSVILLE — The Wellsville school board voted to cut a position from its middle school and high school music program and reduce its high school shop program to a half-time teacher Monday night. The cuts are a direct result of state school funding cuts, Wellsville Supt. Tom Heiman said. The school district lost $100,000 this year because of the funding cuts, he said. The board also accepted the resignation of its high school Spanish teacher. However, the district will hire another Spanish teacher because Heiman says foreign language classes are required by the Kansas Regents program for college-bound high school students.
