OSAWATOMIE — A search of an Osawatomie home has solved burglaries from Westphalia Elementary School and from storage sheds in Garnett. The Anderson County Review reported that $18,000 worth of property was recovered. Police are continuing to investigate the thefts and have identified two suspects, Garnett Police Chief Kevin PeKarek said. Garnett Police Sgt. Mike Carpenter discovered evidence that resulted in a warrant to search the Osawatomie home, PeKarek said. The search led to more stolen property and more victims than expected, he said. Laptop computers, a DVD player, and a special computer with closed circuit TV and monitor used by handicapped students was stolen from Westphalia Elementary School, he said. It’s likely some items were sold during a recent garage sale at the Osawatomie home, and at flea markets throughout eastern Kansas, he said.
