MINE CREEK — The Mine Creek Battlefield State Historic Site will present “Daily Life of a Civil War Soldier,” 1 – 2:30 p.m. Saturday, May 19. Approximately 2,800 Union troops attacked and routed nearly 8,000 Confederates along the banks of Mine Creek. After the battle, Federal forces pursued the Confederates as they tried to flee to Arkansas, Indian Territory and Texas. Admission is $5 adults, $1 students. Kansas Historical Foundation members and children five and under are admitted free. Mine Creek Battlefield is located at K-52 and U.S. 69.
