GARNETT — An Anderson County Sheriff’s deputy checking recycling centers discovered stolen scrap metal and equipment at a Centerville business and solved at least four recent burglaries and thefts. The Anderson County Review reported Deputy Jese Sjorlund found 425 pounds of stolen copper wire and other items at Wes’ Recycling in Centerville. Garnett Police Chief Kevin PeKarek told the Review the thieves targeted at least three places in Anderson County and TL Enterprises in Garnett. The investigation by the Anderson County Sheriff’s Department and the Garnett Police Department continues, he said. Three suspects have been identified, he said. PeKarek recommends anyone who has construction equipment to lock the items in a storage shed or building if possible.
