OSAWATOMIE — The building surrounding the Adair Cabin in Jjohn Brown Memorial Park is getting new windows. John Brown State Historical Site administrator Grady Atwater told the Osawatomie Graphic that the windows were original back to when the structure was built 85 years ago and had severely deteriorated. Because of their warped condition, Atwater said the windows offered little protection from the rain and elements. He said he spent six years lobbying the state for money for the much-needed work. Workers from a Ness City company have started installing replacement windows. Because the museum is on the National Register of Historic Places, the window replacements need to be historically accurate in appearance.
