GARDNER — An injury crash involving a Gardner-Edgerton school bus and three other vehicles Tuesday afternoon closed U.S. 56 between 191st and 199th streets in southern Johnson County. An SUV struck the rear of a truck which pushed a car into the rear end of the school bus, Deputy Tom Erickson said. About 31 students from Pioneer Ridge Middle School were on the bus, he said. No students on the bus reported any injuries and they transferred to another school bus and continued to their homes, he said. Three people from the other vehicles were taken to area hospitals. Erickson said those appeared to be non-life threatening injuries. Johnson County Sheriff’s deputies were investigating the crash.
