KANSAS CITY – The National Archives at Kansas City is hosting the EP[A’s “Documerica” exhibit of photographs depicting environmental conditions of the past and present. The display’s visit to Kansas City is the seventh stop in a national tour and will be open in Kansas City through May 31.  “Documerica” became the United States’ first serious pictorial examination of the environment. The project collected more than 15,000 images and documented the environmental and human conditions of this country when the EPA was starting its mission. The project visually records the difference in conditions over the years, providing the public with a measurement of progress made to accomplish goals set by Congress. Beginning on last year’s Earth Day, the public was invited to contribute new images to the project. The National Archives of Kansas City is at 400 W. Pershing Road, in Kansas City, Mo.
