OTTAWA — Ottawa city commissioners met with Ottawa University president Kevin Eichner and Loyd Builders officials Monday to discuss a proposed parking lot at the Ottawa University campus. During their study session, commissioners toured the site of the proposed lot, which would be to the north of historic Tauy Jones Hall. The proposal has stirred public opposition and the commissioners rejected OU’s request last week on a 3-2 vote. Eichner said the parking lot will help solve serious parking problems in and around the campus. Commissioners reluctant to approve the request said they’d like the proposed parking lot to be a smaller and have more green space between it and Tauy Jones Hall. After touring the site, they asked for more details about the request.
