OTTAWA – Stephen Hunting was sworn in as Franklin County’s county attorney Tuesday afternoon. Hunting, who previously served five years as assistant county attorney under County Attorney Heather Jones, said he’s not planning any immediate changes. “I’ll make a thoughtful determinations before I make any significant or sesmic changes,” Hunting said. “Things are in pretty good shape from what I can tell.” Hunting was nominated by county Republican central committee members to fill the unexpired term of Jones, who was named an assistant Johnson County attorney in charge of that county’s sex crimes prosecutions. He was appointed by Gov. Sam Brownback.
Hunting said he intends to file for election.
