TOPEKA — A 23-year-old Lawrence man has been charged with robbing a bank in Topeka. Paul Wade was charged in connection with last week’s robbery of the U.S. Bank on Wanamaker Road in western Topeka, U.S. Attorney Barry Grissom said. The robber entered the bank wearing a blue baseball cap and sunglasses and carrying a blue cloth bag. He gave the teller a note demanding money and threatening to use a gun. He put the money in the bag and left the bank. Police used the tag on the car to track down Wade to his family’s home in Lawrence. Wade’s family said he might be headed for Colorado. Grissom said while officers were still at the Wade home in Lawrence, they were notified that a state trooper had stopped Wade driving west on I-70 near Hays.
