REPUBLIC — The Pawnee Indian Museum State Historic Site near Republic in north-central Kansas will host a mountain man encampment on Saturday. About 12 camps of mountain man re-enactors will participate in the encampment from 9 to 8. The public can explore a colorful era in western history when fur trappers and traders journeyed to uncharted territories and dealt with the Indian tribes of the plains and mountains of the west. Admission to the site is $5 for adults, and $1 for students. Kansas Historical Foundation members and children five and under are free.
