OVERBROOK — A group of volunteers dedicated a veterans’ memorial in Overbrook Sunday. The volunteers have been raising money and planning the memorial for two years. Overbrook Veterans Memorial Committee’s Jessica Frye told the Topeka Capital-Journal that about 10 percent of the thousand residents in Overbrook have served in the military. The first phase, which includes a flagpole and stone memorial, has been completed. The second phase will include more flagpoles and landscaping. Retired Brig. Gen. Deborah Rose, a Overbrook native and Frye’s mother, attended yesterday’s dedication. For more information or to donate to the memorial, go to the Web site www.overbrookveteransmemorial.org.
