TOPEKA – The Kansas Historical Society and the Kansas Anthropological Association will hold the annual Kansas archeology training program field school at a Kansa Indian site in northern Topeka. The dig is at the site of Fool Chief’s Village at the intersection of NW 25th Street and NW Menoken Road. The site and the archeology laboratory at the Kansas Historical Society will be open to the public daily from 8 to noon and 1 to 5 from Saturday to June 17. Evening archeology presentations will also be offered. Visit the Web site kshs.org/14622 for a schedule of events and locations. The dig is under way because of a road project at the intersection of U.S. 24 and Menoken Road, which will damage the site.
