GARNETT — The Golden Heights Living Center of Garnett has been named one of the 22 regional Business Excellence Award winners by the Kansas Department of Commerce. Golden Heights is owned by Vetter Health Services of Elkhorn, Neb. Golden Heights has 63 employees and is one of the largest private employers in Anderson County. Golden Heights allows the nursing staff to schedule their own hours, and offers tuition reimbursement to team members pursuing higher education, and offers the Joan Hammel Scholarship to a staffer who is in the nursing program at Neosho County Community College. Over the past 10 years, golden heights living center has invested nearly $665,500 in capital investment for the building, equipment, and land improvements. The facility was nominated by the city of Garnett. City manager Joyce Martin said in the nomination that Golden Heights is an asset to the community and is now caring for residents who are the children of former residents.
