OTTAWA — Ottawa police were investigating thefts occurring this weekend. A 45-year-old Ottawa woman reported that someone entered her home in the 1300 block of Austin Court and stole property late Friday night. Police said the woman knew the burglar. A 69-year-old Ottawa man reported burglars stole property from his home in the 700 block of North Poplar Friday. An Ottawa woman reported someone stole a cactus from her porch of her home in the 800 block of South Main Sunday morning. Police said they arrested Michael Brandon, 47, Ottawa, in connection with the cactus theft. The woman saw a man snatch her cactus and followed him walking down the street, Lt. Adam Weingartner said. She called police when he went into a house. Police found the cactus and several other plants, including tomatoes and potted plants, that were taken from homes in the neighborhood, Weingartner said. Police also recovered several guns reported stolen from a house in northern Ottawa.
