Former county commissioner Bill Craig, Garnett auto detailer Ken Miller and Garnett landscaper and painter Scott Rogers are seeking the Republican nomination. There’s also a Republican primary for county commission district one. Retired doctor David Leitch and farmer and trucker Pat Callahan are seeking the Republican nomination. The winner will face Democratic incumbent commissioners Eugene Highberger, who is a Westphalia-area farmer. Other contested county races — sheriff Jeff Hupp and former deputy Vern Valentine, who Hupp fired when Valentine filed his challenge. Hupp is a Democrat, Valentine a Republican. County Attorney Fred Campbell, a Libertarian, is being challenged by Osage County Attorney Brandon Jones, a Republican, and defense attorney Kathleen Neff, a Democrat.
