OTTAWA — Even these days, one Ottawa historical figure still stirs controversy. Etta Semple, the woman who started Ottawa’s first hospital, infuriated Ottawa a hundred years ago with her support for socialism, her disdain for religion and her barbed comments about college football. Wichita State instructor Vickie Sandell Stangl, who has extensively researched Semple, will talk about her life and ideas on this Sunday morning’s edition of Community Perspective at 8:04.
