TOPEKA — The Brown v. Board of Education National hHistoric Site in Topeka has named its first artist in residence. Quilt artist Marla Jackson, the great-granddaughter of a slave, will be at the Brown site for the next four months. The National Park Service said Jackson will provide art programs and summer camps to youths and help connect visitors to stories of the struggle for equality. The Brown site is a former Topeka school that was the subject of the landmark school desegregation case. Admission is free.
