WICHITA — A Hutchinson man has been sentenced to two years in federal prison for threatening President Obama. Michael Scott Ramsey, 27, pleaded guilty to one count of threatening the president, U.S. Attorney Barry Grissom said. Ramsey admitted that on July 1, 2009, he wrote two signed letters that were delivered to the staff of Larned State Hospital in which he threatened to kill the president. Last year, Ramsey underwent a mental evaluation at a Federal Bureau of Prisons detention center in Los Angeles. Grissom said the evaluators concluded there was no evidence that Ramsey suffered from a mental disorder that kept him from understanding the consequences of his actions.
