JUNCTION CITY — The funeral for a Junction City family who were killed in a plane crash in Florida was Monday morning and attracted about 2,000 people. Ron and Becky Bramlage of Junction City and their four children, Brandon, Boston, Beau and Roxanne; were killed June 7 when their Swiss-built one-engine turboprop plane crashed in a remote part of the Tiger Creek Preserve near Lake Wales, Fla,, on their way home from a vacation in the Bahamas. Ron Bramlage, 45, was a prominent Junction City businessman who owned Roadside Ventures, an outdoor advertising company. He was the grandson of the late Fred Bramlage who was the lead contributor to the construction of Bramlage Coliseum at Kansas State University. Becky Bramlage, 43,was president of the Junction City school board. The community has been in a state of shock, said Tom Weigand, president of the Junction City Chamber of Commerce, former Ottawa Area Chamber of Commerce president. “The Bramlage name is synonymous with Junction City,” he said. The fence around the Bramlages’ home was covered in flowers, notes and memorials, he said. The National Transportation Safety Board continues to investigate the cause of the crash.
