OSAWATOMIE — Osawatomie State Hospital named its reflecting fountain after former interim superintendent Wes Cole. A longtime employee of the hospital, Cole has served as chair of the governor’s Mental Health Services Planning Council since 2003. During last week’s rededication ceremony, Kansas aging secretary Shawn Sullivan said naming the fountain recognizes of the huge impact Cole has had on the field of mental health in Kansas. The state hospital system, including Osawatomie, will soon be turned over to what will become the Kansas Department for Aging and Disability Services.
